HOLY GHOST & ST. BERNADETTE
Welcome to our parish family!
We are a Parish Family inviting others home to discover, live and share the redeeming love of Jesus.
Every member of our parish family has come with a calling. To bring love and faith, to heal and to listen, to find meaning in the world and to help discover meaning in this gift of life. Our calling is your calling. We are one with the Lord.
As a Parish Family who have a “shared catholic identity,” like all families, we strive to nurture an environment where everyone feels embraced by genuine care, support and love.
This spiritual Parish Family becomes a reality when we:
- accept and value each other right as we are and encourage each other on our journey of faith
- gather together and create meaningful relationships
- care for and support each other in good times and difficult times.
- make time to pray with others and for others
- welcome and care for one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.
- create opportunities where we can learn about our faith and grow together toward common spiritual goals.
Our mission as a parish is to help individuals discover and experience the transformative power of faith in Jesus Christ. We strive to build a nurturing environment that encourages personal and collective spiritual growth.
Through regular worship, celebrating the sacraments, taking part in parish faith formation offerings and in diverse ministries, our parish actively helps to strengthen the faith of our members, build lasting friendships, and
promote a spirit of generosity and kindness that reflects the love and teachings of Jesus to our families and those around us in the wider world.
We intentionally used the word “HOME” in our Mission Statement, because the invitation to come home signifies the parish's commitment to creating a welcoming, comfortable environment. A true home is distinguished by its warmth, safety, and sense of belonging. It is a place where each individual’s uniqueness is respected, and their contributions are valued.
Our Parish Family is dedicated to creating a “spiritual” home where everyone feels that they truly belong. We strive to ensure that all individuals are not only invited to our spiritual home, but are welcomed with open arms into our community. This spirit of hospitality is at the heart of our mission and reflects our commitment to embracing every person who comes through our doors.
It is our mission for each member of our parish to help both newcomers (no matter their background or stage in their faith-life) and current members to find their place in our parish community and be given support on their spiritual journey.
Our story as a community of faith continues to be written today. We remain a vibrant parish family at Holy Ghost and St. Bernadette where our parishioners are strengthened by the sacraments and motivated by our love for God and for each other. Together we aspire to do God’s will and build God’s kingdom here on earth.
PRAYER FOR OUR PARISH FAMILY'S MISSION
Heavenly Father,
We thank you for bringing us together as a parish family, united in your love. We believe the love of Jesus has changed our lives and can change the lives of others. Help us to live out our mission of inviting others home to discover, live, and share the redeeming love of Jesus.
May our community be a place where all feel welcome, where discipleship grows, and where your love is freely shared. Guide us as we walk together in faith, sharing Your hope with those around us.
Empower us through the Eucharist to reflect Your love in everything we do.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Helpline Could Use Your Help!
What would you do if you were about to be evicted from your home…or you’d received notice that your gas, water, or electric utility service was going to be shut off? What if you had no savings, couldn’t feed your family, and had no safety net to help you through these difficult times? What if the prospect of falling into homelessness seemed like your only choice?
These scenarios describe individuals and families that the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha serves every day of the year, which is why we offer our SSVP Helpline.
The Helpline is an easy-to-use, one-stop, online service for Omaha-area neighbors in need.
Here, they can inquire into, and request material or financial assistance from SSVP Omaha.
The SSVP Helpline is staffed by volunteers who provide a caring and compassionate response to neighbors in need who may be experiencing the most difficult and turbulent time in their entire lives.
If you are interested in becoming an SSVP Helpline volunteer, please be in touch with Kristina Janousek at 402-779-8499, ext. 107, or email Kristina at conferencesupport@ssvpomaha.org.
